RIP to "The Logo", "Mr. Clutch" and "Mr. Outside", NBA Great Jerry West (1938-2024). Thanks for the many magnificent memories both on and off the court. You will be sadly missed. 🏀🏆
You can tell this legend has lived this long because he is happy and joyful, that is key to a fullfilled life be happy with what you do in your career and life goals
Out of all the great guards in history - MJ, Magic, Kobe, etc... - Jerry West was the best shooter, that's how good he was (Steph would be the exception). He was a big guard at 6'4" (barefoot as opposed to how players are measured in shoes today), had hops and he was quick. He could finish in the paint with anybody and his quick pull up jumper was almost unstoppable. Mr Clutch would be great in any era.
agree 100%..If you love NBA and Jerry West is not in all time great list something's wrong with you!!The man was quick and beyond smart on the court..I watched that final against Boston in 69,man he was def the finals MVP!!
@@ThiagodMoraes The Logo had one of the best years ever for a guard in '72 when he averaged over 25 points a game, led the NBA in assists, and played GREAT defense. That Lakers team won 69 games and still holds the record for most consecutive wins by a team at 33.
what an incredible human being... I remember back in late sixties early 70s...I was a young very young basket ball player 8 thru 14 years of age...this was in São Paulo Brasil... we heard and even saw the globetrotters in town...but we heard of few names from those days in NBA...namely Cousy,Russell,Baylor,Oscar and obviously Mr Jerry West...I'm a Laker fan because of him...I know Chamberlain was there too...but I was a point guard...and all I saw was pictures and heard how good he was...a scoring machine.. I wish he was still a Laker...but nevertheless the love and admiration and respect is the same...
jerry west is so well spoken and riveting , this doesn’t come across as geezer talk along the lines of oh back in my day, i think this is straight wisdom about the challenges he faced during his life
Jerry, my favorite player of all time. His greatness is recognized by being the NBA logo. Most importantly his view of how a human being should always be willing to GIVE whenever possible!!! When he played he had no flaws. He played defense and shot the most beautiful jump shot ever seen in the NBA. I still think, to this day, although players are more athletic now, that he is the most fundamentally sound player of all time. Great offense, defense and great free throw shooter. Great career stats for someone that dunking was not part of his game. Long live his Legend!!!!
Jerry, your greatest heroism is having overcome the abuse of your early life. So many like you flow down the drains of society. You are one of the greatest role models in existence.
I’ve been watching all kinds of Jerry west interviews today. I knew the name. Knew he was the logo. Didn’t know who he was though. Haven’t ever been a basketball fan with it not really being a big thing in the U.K. when I was a kid but I’ve been thoroughly engaged by this man today. I guess this is the effect of inside the nba being a tremendous sports show that I found one day on RUclips. And let’s not get into how odd it might be to watch inside the nba but not watch the sport itself.
Jerry West Attends & Participates in Honoring Fallen War Veterans Events , I'm Sure brought on by his Brother's death in the Korean War , No Wonder As Laker Vice President, he Won those NBA Titles , Who Wouldn't want to Play for Him ?
The thing he's talking about, that's what happened to my cousin's mother - she travelled on train to her hometown, fully aware of the virus situation, got the virus and got her mother sick with the virus, and now they both in the hospital, and doctors said, that her mother will not make it.
Nobody loves goliath. As Wilt said. Now many respected him and some even rooted for him. But basketball is a big man's game ( used to be even more so ) and the dominating center had the highest expectations.
Cz they saw Jerry giving it all in the crunch time..while Wilt always had a knack of duckin those big moments..every iconic moment you see with Wilt on floor he is no where to be seen in the photo..you see West right in the middle of action fighting yes both lost more than they won..but the intent difference was for all to be seen ....
@@mayankrathi7333 you can tell even in their old age how different winning was to each of them. Wilt talked about his stats. Jerry talks about how sick he felt at losing. Like still. I don't think I've seen a basketball player to whom winning was so important.

20:00 "We glorify the champion, but there's more incredible stories in a losing locker room". Wow, quite deep, and dark even.
I still can't believe that Kobe Bryant is no longer with us.

The 4 people who dislike this video are horrible people! Really?
Yes this was nice
The logo
How would he remember 50 years ago. And I’m 24 I don’t remember what I did at 17
You have problems
Mr west is sharp for a 85 year old
just wow...
He was steph curry of the 70s
More like 60s..he retired in early 70s I think
I heard Jerry still don't go to Boston.
Imagine if he played in the era of the 3 point shot
The LOGO...
